White Fungus 'More Dangerous' than Black Fungus, Check Symptoms Here





What is White Fungus?

White Fungus infection can be caused due by lowThe white immunity or if people come in contact with things that contain these molds like water, hence sanitation is important, suggests Dr. Arunesh Kumar.

What are the Symptoms of White Fungus?

Patients of white fungus show Covid-like symptoms but test negative; the infection can be diagnosed through CT-Scan or X-ray, the doctor says.

The white fungus can affect not just the lungs but also other parts of the body including- nails, skin, stomach, kidney, brain, private parts, and mouth.

Who can be infected by White Fungus?

COVID-19 patients are more prone to white fungus as it affects the lungs and similar symptoms are created like that of coronavirus.

Further, those who have weak immunity like diabetes, cancer patients, and those who are taking steroids for a long period of time must take special care as they are more at risk. It is also affecting coronavirus patients who are on oxygen support.

Earlier on May 19, the state of Assam witnessed its first case of black fungus infection Mucormycosis, in a Covid-19 patient in Guwahati who later succumb to its infection.

The youth identified as Palmoni Bora (27) was admitted to Apollo Hospital after being detected with COVID-19, however, the youth returned home on May 13 after he tested negative for the infection.

Further, as his health deteriorated, the patient was again admitted on May 15 and after being treated, he was reportedly tested positive for the rare fungal infection Mucormycosis.

The youth hailing from Dhing was first tested positive for COVID-19 on May 6 after he got himself tested at Dhing FRU.
